Start with two separate claims.
Do not read a positive result as one single fact. Check the official employer record and the page-to-employer match independently.

How the Inspector reaches a result.
Each step answers a different question. Reliability checks happen inside the step they protect—not as a separate promise.

Which public company is this?
Read the employer identity on the page
The extension reads the public company or advertiser name and a public page identifier from LinkedIn or SEEK. It does not treat the display name as a legal identity and does not use your platform account identity.
A company profile is a stronger identity than a SEEK advertiser name. - INZ
What does the official record say?
Find and validate official accreditation data
Employer records come from Immigration New Zealand, part of MBIE. The service uses a validated official bulk snapshot and, when fresh data is needed, a direct lookup of INZ’s public service triggered by you.
Names, 13-digit NZBNs, dates, result totals and complete bulk imports are checked before acceptance. - Match

Use the safest available connection
Your saved choice takes priority for you. Without one, a clear community winner can be used. Automatic selection happens only when there is one candidate and its official legal name exactly matches the page name; an immediate live search must also report one total result.
Trading-name, similar-name and multiple-candidate matches are never silently selected. - Time
Is the observation still useful?
Show freshness instead of hiding age
Selected positive records are treated as fresh for up to 30 days. Older records trigger a new INZ lookup. A no-result name search lasts for up to seven days and is scoped to that exact page identity and query.
“No published INZ match” records a search result; it does not prove non-accreditation.
A known association or one exact legal-name candidate
Similar names, trading names, ties or several candidates
Community input cannot alter official accreditation facts
The extension, service, data rules and tests are open source, so these behaviours can be inspected and challenged.
03 · When you choose
Sometimes the Inspector needs your help.
A brand can be connected to several related legal entities. Showing every plausible record is safer than guessing.
When several names appear
Why one name can show several employers
Each row is a separate official employer record, usually with a different NZBN. They are not several accreditations for one company.
This can happen when a brand has related companies, a trading name differs from the registered name, or a short advertiser name resembles more than one organisation.

What each notice means.
Read the accreditation status and matching notice together. One describes the official employer record; the other explains why that record was shown on this page.
Match and community

- A saved user-created connection links this page identity to an official NZBN. It is not an INZ fact.
- Your confirmed association
- This browser installation previously chose that employer for this page. Your current choice takes priority for you.
- 1 community confirmation
- One other browser installation chose this NZBN for the same public page identity. It is matching context—not official verification.
- Other users selected a different NZBN
- The community choices disagree. If the leading counts are tied, the Inspector will not choose a winner.
- Based on advertiser name
- The SEEK page did not provide a strong company profile identity. Similar advertiser names require extra care.
- Automatic exact official-name match
- Exactly one candidate met the narrow official legal-name rule. No community confirmation was created.
Status and freshness
- Accredited in NZ
- The selected official record’s expiry date has not passed in New Zealand time. It does not decide whether a particular role supports your visa.
- Accreditation expired
- The selected official record’s expiry date has passed. Check its verification date and the official list.
- Confirm employer match
- Plausible official records exist, but the Inspector cannot safely decide which employer belongs to this page.
- No published INZ match
- A recent INZ search returned no result for this exact page name. This is not proof that the employer is unaccredited.
- Live verification needs review
- The latest lookup did not confirm an older selected record. The dated record remains visible but is not treated as current.
- Live INZ · Shared data · Verified
- These labels describe whether official data was just fetched or reused, and when it was accepted.
05 · Important limits
What a result cannot tell you.
The Inspector is an independent open-source project. It is not an Immigration New Zealand product and does not provide immigration or legal advice.
- The page may not name the legal employerThe entity signing your employment agreement can differ from the brand on the job ad.
- Accreditation does not decide a visaAn accredited employer may not be able to support every role or application.
- Community counts are not official proofA confirmation can be mistaken, even when several people agree.
- Public data changesUse the displayed verification date and recheck important decisions.
- Live payload provenance has a technical limitThe service validates the structure of browser-submitted INZ results, but cannot cryptographically prove their origin.
